This 55,000 ha game reserve lies just over two hours easy drive from Johannesburg. It is an increasingly popular day trip even for wildlife photographers and safari goers thanks to its physical beauty and the greatest species diversity of all southern Africa’s game reserves. Situated in an ecological transition zone, the home range of moist eastern species and dry western species overlap naturally here. For example, you can see impala and springbok together. It is home to the Big Five – elephant, rhino (both black & white), buffalo, lion and leopard amongst other iconic species of the African savannahs. It ranks among the most popular of game reserves for South Africans – alongside the world renowned Kruger National Park.
